Terms of service

The service

The service provides an HTTP API that returns information about IP addresses, including an assessment of whether an address appears to belong to a VPN, a proxy, a Tor exit node or a hosting provider.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.

Your API key authenticates requests as you. Anyone holding it can spend your quota, so treat it as a credential: keep it out of client-side code and public repositories, and regenerate it if it may have been exposed.

Plans and quotas

Each plan includes a number of billable requests per billing period. A request is billable if and only if it returned a result; errors and refusals are not charged.

There is no overage billing. When your quota is exhausted, requests are refused until the period resets. You will never be invoiced for more than the plan you chose.

Changing plan mid-period changes the limit, not the count already used. Prices may change with reasonable notice; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

Payment

Paid plans are billed in advance through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is the seller on your invoice and the name that appears on your statement, and it collects any applicable tax at checkout according to your location.

A first payment is refundable in full for fourteen days, renewals are not, and cancelling is self-service at any time. The refund policy sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.

If a payment fails, the service continues while the payment provider retries. If it ultimately cannot be collected, the account returns to the free plan rather than being cut off.

Acceptable use

Use the API for your own product or service. In particular, do not:

Availability and accuracy

The service is provided as it is, without a guaranteed uptime commitment. Maintenance and incidents happen; failed requests are never charged.

A score is evidence, not a verdict. Detection is inherently imperfect: legitimate users behind VPNs, corporate networks and mobile carrier ranges can score highly. You decide what to do with the answer, and you remain responsible for that decision, including any decision to refuse service to someone.

Ending the agreement

You may cancel at any time; the paid plan runs to the end of the period already paid for. We may suspend an account that breaches acceptable use, and will say why where we reasonably can.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to the amount paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law, and the courts of France have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections available where you live.
